The Blood Stops the Reign of Death
SCRIPTURE: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:55-57
Romans 5:14 says death reigned from Adam to Moses. Spiritual death, separation from God, ruled over man from the time Adam sinned. People were exceedingly sinful. So much so that God had to destroy all life from the earth except for eight souls and selected animals. But with Moses the reign of death stopped.
What stopped it? The blood. The law and blood atonement were instituted under Moses. Man now had relationship with God restored if only in a limited fashion. Man now had hope to escape the tyranny of sin. His hope was fully manifested in Jesus.
With Jesus’s atoning sacrifice death is swallowed up in victory. The fear of death disappears in the face of the blood. Death has forever lost its sting for blood bought humanity. That’s something to shout about.
