What Were You Aiming For?

SCRIPTURE: JAMES 1:14-15

Sin is defined as “missing the mark.” If you’re born of God’s Spirit, your desire is to do good; to obey His leading. We can miss it even with good intentions and noble goals. You aim at a target and pull the trigger prematurely.

Someone was offended as a result of your actions. You apologize. You feel bad, but your heart was right. While there is a break in the peace, forgiveness mends the relationship back to wholeness. Somewhere down the road two people who incurred an offense can even laugh at the incident. Because the blood of Jesus is real in its cleansing, healing and reconciling power, we can even emerge stronger from these circumstances.

We all miss it. Let’s obey God’s law of forgiveness and grow stronger from our mistakes.
