Week of April 26-30, 2021
MONDAY
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
Romans 13:1
Ever wonder why some people rise to power? Because all authority comes from God. I did not say that everybody in authority obeys God, but all authority comes from Him because He is omnipotent. Power and authority originate from God. As Christians, we must obey laws set by our governments.
If you are in need of healing, there is good news! Proverbs 4:20-22 SAYS:
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
So there is life and health in God’s word. Since God’s word is medicine, we must take it like we would a prescription. I suggest three times a day, like you would your food. Remember, healing is the children’s bread. Consider this your “dose” for today. Remember, read, and meditate three times a day the following:
Rx: 3 John 2 ~ Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health even as your souls prosper.
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

TUESDAY
Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
Romans 13:2
If we obey those in authority over us, God will rule in our lives. His rule brings peace, blessing, and comfort. Submission to authority also teaches us to respect authority, thereby putting us in line to HANDLE the authority or wield authority. Wise men respect the loaded gun; foolish men play with it. Wise men learn how to operate it skillfully. So it is with authority and power. God considers people who willfully challenge authority to be fools; they bring judgment upon themselves. Foolish people must have external controls. Wise ones have the umpire within and ascend to power and are qualified to govern others.
WEDNESDAY
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.
Romans 13:3-4
Our reaction to those in authority says something about our intents, motives, or heart’s desires. If we fear authority, we fear breaking the law. If we are law abiding, we find comfort in authority. If we do what’s right, we need not fear those who are over us. Learn what is expected, do that, and authority will be a comfort, not a threat to you.
THURSDAY
Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.
Romans 13:5
Submitting to authority leads to peace of mind. Consider the person who is wanted by the police. He looks constantly over his shoulder—he has no peace. He is a restless sleeper. He is on the alert at all times. Obedience to the law gives us peace of mind.
FRIDAY
For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
Romans 13:6-7
Submission to authority means paying taxes, tolls, and costs levied by governments. It means using titles and terms of respect for certain persons. Be mindful to render to a person that which is due him, then you have obeyed God’s law.
