“A little leaven leavens the whole lump.” Galatians 5:9
The Apostle Paul is speaking of mixing the law with grace. Have you ever tried to remove baking powder from cornbread? I once forgot if I’d added the baking powder to the mix. Stressful! You think you did… but what if you add too much? You almost have to toss it all out and start all over again. Get my drift? The whole batch will rise twice as much and have an “off” taste.
When we mix religion with grace, we are highly ineffective in ministry. The sick won’t be healed, your prayers won’t get answered…you can huff and puff, but the devil won’t leave. Might as well get to square one and start again. This time, stay with the Holy Spirit and the word… no mixture… just straight up walking in the Spirit with God.
