SUCCESS

A teaching by Rev. Barbara Williams, President of the Ministry of the Watchman International

Week of August 23-27, 2021

MONDAY
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you… Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:5, 7-8

Obedience to the word of God is success. There is no success outside of the word of God. We hear many motivational speakers expounding what they believe will bring success, but if their methods are not fashioned on the word of God, there will be no success. God honors His word above His name, so when there is a yielding to God’s word, there follows the success that God speaks of. When we know the word of God, then we can allow that word to become a part of us through meditation. When the word becomes grafted into us, then we are able to observe and do the word consistently.

If you are in need of healing, there is good news! Proverbs 4:20-22 SAYS:

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

So there is life and health in God’s word. Since God’s word is medicine, we must take it like we would a prescription. I suggest three times a day, like you would your food. Remember, healing is the children’s bread. Consider this your “dose” for today. Remember, read, and meditate three times a day the following:

Rx: Isaiah 58:8 ~ Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15

If you’ve never studied the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, we invite you to join us as we read through the Bible in a year. Read and meditate on these chapters this week:

TUESDAY
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you… Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:5, 7-8

Success means consistency. Those who obey God selectively, or on the spur of the moment, will not have the success God promises. Diligence is a part of consistency. Think about it. If you have a job that requires 5 days a week, and you only go for four, your inconsistency will cause failure in this endeavor. You may be a very good employee when you are there, or you may even “know more than the boss,” but you will fail miserably due to lack of diligence. God wants us to develop lifestyle habits that cultivate success; in this way, we become trustworthy and able to carry out the plan of God in the earth.

WEDNESDAY
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you… Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:5, 7-8

Humility and teachableness are qualities that make for success. The meek shall inherit the earth. Those who walk humbly before the Lord will always receive instruction, guidance and favor from the Lord. Those who walk in the vanity of their own minds will suffer lack. When a person submits to the authority over him, then he is able to receive the blessing of instruction, correction and guidance. These are important blessings, because they insure our success. Correction is a blessing? Yes! It insures that we will not be left on the wrong road forever. When we allow ourselves to be corrected, we insure success.

THURSDAY
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you… Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:5, 7-8

Perseverance is a quality that insures success. It was said that Thomas Edison failed at at least 1000 attempts at creating the light bulb. He is considered a success because he didn’t quit. How many of us have had a good idea and even thought about trying to develop it, but we shrug off the idea as a fantasy? How many of us have had opportunities to contribute to something greater than ourselves, but talked ourselves out of it, thinking that God will never use us? Failure follows quitting or giving up. Many times people have knowledge, but never get the credentials to allow that gift its full expression. How many good cooks never attend culinary school, or good hairdressers never attend beauty school? Failure to be credentialed will detract from the success that could be attained. God wants us to go all the way!

FRIDAY
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you… Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:5, 7-8

Righteousness is a quality that allows us access to the flawless throne of God. Without righteousness, there is no lasting success. Think of all the trouble Martha Stewart could have avoided if righteousness had been hers. Righteousness allows what we do to last. It guides our motives so that greed will never take over. Righteousness insures success because what we have will last throughout eternity. I love righteousness. It speaks volumes in the heavens, earth and under the earth. It was because of righteousness that Jesus led captivity captive, ransomed gifts to be brought to the earth for the perfection of the saints. We have the righteous one living inside us. We have a head start on the road to success.
