THURSDAY’S TRUTH

Cue Mr. Smokey Robinson Please:
🎼 “You Can’t Let the Boy Overpower the Man in You… ”♫

SCRIPTURE: 1 CORINTHIANS 13:11

That got your attention I bet. But it’s true. We are mature in Christ. When you yield to the spirit of Christ that dwells within, all selfishness leaves. We become willing to be used of Him to bless, help and bring hope through preaching the good news.

We put away childish things. All that happens by the work of the Holy Spirit. He brings out the goodness in us for His glory. This happened to Peter and it happened quickly. When Jesus was with him before his death, burial and resurrection, he was a boy in a man’s body. Showing out: wanted the greatest place in a kingdom he knew little about, but thought he did. On the mount of transfiguration, instead of keeping his mouth shut in the face of a miracle, he wants to build three tabernacles… God had to tell him to shut up.

When Jesus prophesies His death he rebuked Him… Jesus calls him Satan because he’s so carnal. Then after vowing to never leave The Master, he denies Him three times… all boy stuff. But after PENTECOST we see Peter the man: preaching after being beaten and thrown in jail, he gets out and preaches some more. Standing up to religious persecution. The Holy Ghost did that to him. He does that to all who come to Christ.

No more childish things. No more selfishness. We have eternity in our hearts and we’re not ashamed of it. You grown now. Keep preaching.
