FAITH FOR FRIDAY

SCRIPTURE: LUKE 15
🎼… “Mama may have; Papa may have, but God bless the child that’s got his own… FAITH.”
I added the last word, lol. It is true, you know. The day comes when all kids in the household must grow up and make their own way in the world. That truth pertains to faith as well. When they’re small, God expects the parents to bring them under the umbrella of their faith. But there comes a day when their own faith must drive their lives. If they want to prosper, their own faith and relationship with God must take over. The prodigal son found this out. He demanded his material inheritance. He mistakenly thought possessions and money were all that was needed to survive, so he jumps out with just that. He forgot the things that make life work: wisdom, faith, righteousness… he possessed none of these. Soon his money was gone:
🎼… “Money, you’ve got lots of friends crowding round your door… when it’s gone and spending ends, they don’t come back anymore… ”
In fact, when the son had spent every penny, he couldn’t get food the pigs ate. Thank God he humbled himself and went back to the father’s house. He got a second chance to learn a valuable lesson: it takes faith to please God and prosper…
