It’s Not About Time, It’s About Faithfulness

FAITH FOR FRIDAY

It’s Not About Time, It’s About Faithfulness

SCRIPTURE: LUKE 12:43

Earth has a love / hate relationship with time. When you’re young, you can’t wait to grow older. When older comes, we want time to slow down. In spiritual matters, I can tell you, it’s often just as bad. We don’t want to wait on God. We want the instant miracle… “when God, when?”

We look at time totally differently than God does. God uses time as a maturing tool; it is a way to evaluate our faithfulness. In this parable, the master leaves his vineyard with his servants. He goes on a journey and doesn’t say when he will return. Not giving a date allows the master to judge if the servants will still be faithful to be obedient to his orders or if they will abuse the servants under their charge.

We are being tested, Beloved. If God told us the exact date for everything He gives us in advance, how would we behave? That’s why no man knows the date of our Lord’s return. Not knowing forces us to be sober, watchful, vigilant. Waiting forces us to develop endurance, patience, humility. If we knew the date in advance would we be totally dedicated or eye servants?

God knows what He’s doing with each one of us. Remember, it’s not about time.
