THE TONGUE OF THE LEARNED

A teaching by Rev. Barbara Williams, President of the Ministry of the Watchman International

Week of October 18-22, 2021

MONDAY
The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as the learned. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
Isaiah 50:4-5

God has given us the tongue of the learned. This is the tongue that speaks knowledge and wisdom. A learned person is able to solve problems based on the knowledge that he has. God’s knowledge covers every area of concern. When we have God’s knowledge, we are able to know what to say and how and when to say it. It is important for believers to know this. Knowing this gives us confidence when we are afraid to speak to strangers about the Lord. This is how we are able to know the thoughts of God toward us and to speak those thoughts. The tongue of the learned enables us to communicate the thoughts of Jesus to those to whom we speak.

If you are in need of healing, there is good news! Proverbs 4:20-22 SAYS:

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

So there is life and health in God’s word. Since God’s word is medicine, we must take it like we would a prescription. I suggest three times a day, like you would your food. Remember, healing is the children’s bread. Consider this your “dose” for today. Remember, read, and meditate three times a day the following:

Rx: James 5:14-15 ~ Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15

TUESDAY
The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as the learned. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
Isaiah 50:4-5

The purpose of the tongue of the learned is to speak to those who are weary. Weary people have concerns, cares and worries. Weary persons need answers from God. Weary persons need our help. God has placed us here and has equipped us with His tongue so that we can be the ministers that He has called us to be. We can trust God in this, because He has already given us the command to go into all the world and preach the gospel. The tongue of the learned is part of our spiritual equipment. We must rely on God who has told us that if we open our mouths, He will fill it with words.

WEDNESDAY
The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as the learned. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
Isaiah 50:4-5

The learned tongue is connected to the learned ear. We can only speak what we have heard. Hearing is an essential part of the learning process. When we are learned people, we incline our ears only to the voice of the Master. For instance, if we are studying biology in school, we will go to the biology teacher for help, instruction and feedback. When we are learning the laws of God and receiving His knowledge, then we must incline our ears to hear as learned people do. We must give His sayings our full attention. We must be attuned to the voice of the Master in such a way that we only want to know His voice. We give His voice our undivided attention. This is how we develop the ear of the learned.

THURSDAY
The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as the learned. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
Isaiah 50:4-5

Once the Lord opens our ears, we cannot rebel against His instruction. We must continue to receive the word of God, and receive it all. Proverbs 4:22 tells us that the words of God are medicine. Sometimes medicine is hard to swallow. The learned ear continues to attend to the words of the master no matter how hard it may seem to do so. There may be times when we are challenged by God’s word. It is during these times that we must be even more determined to stay focused on what God is saying. We cannot turn back! For in the day of battle we will need the equipment that God is giving us through His word.

FRIDAY
The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as the learned. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
Isaiah 50:4-5

We are connected to the Lord in such a way that His words can be our words and His ears can be our ears. We have the assurance from God that we are equipped for every situation. We are well equipped for each and every occasion. We should never fear that our witnessing is not effective. We should never be at a loss for what to say or how to respond to any problem or challenge that faces us, or our loved ones. God has equipped us with mighty spiritual weapons. These weapons work in the spirit and bring great blessings into manifestation. The tongue and ear of the learned are part of that weaponry.
