“Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly fall:
but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:30-31
This isn’t a matter of grammar or semantics, it makes a difference how you wait. When we pray, there is a time between the request and the answer. Waiting on a promise is not merely about the passage of time, but it is also a matter of the condition of your soul and spirit. There are two doors in the spiritual waiting room: spirit and flesh.
Waiting ON God will often throw you into the room of the flesh… you will not only be aware of time, but also the tormenting thoughts of fear, frustration, anger and doubt. It’s a burden and a big deal. Waiting WITH God affords us the luxury of Peace, joy, and contentment. Time flies and we bear fruit for God. It matters how you pass the time.
