THOUGHT FOR TUESDAY
Beware of Fearful Faith People
SCRIPTURE: MARK 4:38
You know the type. They talk faith but live fear. That’s what the disciples did here. Not only are they giving in to fear but they seem to blame Jesus for their fear. Imagine that. Jesus is in the boat with them. He’s asleep. He’s tired. Working miracles is still work. A storm arises and the waves toss the ship, but Jesus is still asleep. They wake Him up and accuse Him of not caring if they die. What a way to ask for help. Fear, pride, accusation… it’s all there.
Often when we face danger, we’re angry that it happened. We often think we’re not supposed to have trouble, but trouble is part of the world’s system. God gives us His faith as a weapon against trouble when it arises. Jesus tells the wind to shut up and go to bed. He then upbraids the disciples for putting their faith away and letting fear dominate them. Fearful faith people are all around: accusing those who walk in power and authority, hiding from the devil instead of confronting him. Your greatest challenge as a believer in Jesus Christ will be boldly stepping into faith and leaving fear behind. You can do it. Jesus is right there with you.
