Jeremiah 17:24-25

“‘And it shall be, if you heed Me carefully,’ says the Lord, ‘to bring no burden through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but hallow the Sabbath day, to do no work in it, then shall enter the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, accompanied by the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city shall remain forever.’”
Jeremiah 17:24-25

All this in exchange for one day… “Cursed is he who trusts in man, but if you keep Holy the Sabbath, then I will give you this city forever.” God would give Israel its land in peace and prosperity forever if they would merely honor Him in obeying the Sabbath. They were to do no work, but take the ENTIRE DAY to worship and rest in Him.

When I was small, my mother would tell me stories of their life in the south. They would start off walking to church early on Sunday, having cooked the day before. They packed food for the day, and had service, lunch, service, dinner and then walk home. To bed. Guess what? Everybody prospered. They built churches, bought property, moved north, got factory jobs… all this in the spite of segregation, poor or no education, and without “faith teaching.”

Obedience is an awesome provider. I feel a praise coming on, y’all!
