FAITH FOR FRIDAY
We Have This Treasure in Earthen Vessels… the Treasure within Us Is Christ.
SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 4:17
Our earthen vessel consists not only of our bodies but also our souls. Souls that have been damaged by sin but being healed as we “went” following the Master. I often wonder why God leaves us with bad memories, remembrance of pain, abuse, degradation. Surely we would be better off totally detached from our sinful pasts, wouldn’t we? Actually, our memories are evidence of the earthen vessel that we are. They provide an open door to testify of His love and power. Then His excellent power causes us to rise above the emotional pain of those past events. We recall that life, but we don’t live it anymore. It happened to someone else. It pleases God to have us live as His testimony, His jewel, His dwelling place. He was looking for a place to live. He’s pleased to dwell in our earthen vessels.
