THURSDAY’S TRUTH
Greater and Greater
SCRIPTURE: 1 CHRONICLES 11:9
David started out like a champion. He slew Goliath the giant of Gath. But David’s accomplishments angered King Saul who wages a war of persecution against David. David flees and for the next 13 years runs from Saul. Running may look like weakness to an observer but is it?
David had several opportunities to kill Saul, but Saul was God’s anointed. But so was David. David has the wisdom to understand that he could not kill Saul and have God’s blessings. The blessing is better than winning. Saul is later killed in battle and David assumes the throne, thankful that he never offended God.
David grew stronger and stronger because God was with him. Having God’s approval is costly but pays big dividends. Never regret laying down your life to serve God. Selah.
