I Don’t Know How You Strengthen Yourself, but I Start With Murder

SCRIPTURE: 2 CHRONICLES 21:4

That got your attention, huh? This passage is about King Jehoram, who when he took the throne, started of by killing all those who might challenge his position. That’s true in government, politics and in the Kingdom of God. We start with our own death. So many enemies within: guilt, fear, self pity, jealousy … the list is endless.

The Bible tells us to reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive unto righteousness. Our reign in life will be secured if we recognize that death is where our victory begins. So often we allow the flesh to live. David’s deathbed instructions to Solomon included a list of enemies of his who Solomon captured and killed at the beginning of his reign. He didn’t take any chances. What we kill at the beginning has no power to interfere with the new life we have in Christ. What we renounce and put under our feet has no power to take dominion over us, and our spirit is strengthened.

We are crucified with Christ … it’s the best thing that could ever happen to us.
