FAITH FOR FRIDAY
Gird up Your Loins and Speak
SCRIPTURE: JEREMIAH 1:17
God tells Jeremiah that he will have to strengthen himself if he is going to be a mouthpiece for Him. Girding ones loins meant to take the ends of the robe and tuck it into the girdle, or waistband. It means to remove encumbrances and restrictions. For us as servants of God it means to shed the fear that surrounds us and keeps us from going forward in God.
It takes courage to open one’s mouth and speak as God speaks. For us, praying in the Spirit, meditating with God, renouncing fear, are part of the girding process. God will then put us in a position to speak for Him. We must stay ready. God wants to save the world and we are His instruments to get it done.
