SINGLED OUT FOR A BLESSING

A teaching by Rev. Barbara Williams, President of the Ministry of the Watchman International

Week of October 31-November 4, 2022

MONDAY
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Hebrews 11:7

One man, Noah, condemned the world. He was singled out from all the other people on the earth. What a strong statement, yet the bible is true. In one translation, this passage states that Noah passed judgment on the world’s unbelief with his faith. What type of faith do you have and how do you use it? Do you use your faith to do mighty things? Do you do the kinds of things that God can use or do you use your faith for puny needs? Did you know that if you trust God totally that your faith can do mighty things? It is important that we understand the magnitude of the power of our faith-the faith of the Son of God.

So can our faith pass judgment on the world? Yes it can. It is the same kind of faith that Noah possessed. Noah’s faith was in God. He had God’s brand of faith. This type of faith ignores the natural, physical realm and focuses and draws strength from God’s realm. Faith in God believes only what God says in spite of evidence to the contrary.

Each time you believe you are healed in spite of your symptoms, whether you have high blood pressure, tumors, bleeding, it makes no difference what the devil is throwing at you, you pass judgment on and condemn that sickness. It must give in to the judgment of God. Each time you say, “I am healed in spite of what I see. Symptom, leave in the name of Jesus,” you are condemning that disease and giving it a death sentence. The disease will die, either immediately or gradually, but it dies every time you use your faith to move against it or in the direction of health. The world’s unbelief says you are sick. Your faith passes judgment on the world’s unbelief, not the other way around.

If you are in need of healing, there is good news! Proverbs 4:20-22 SAYS:

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

So there is life and health in God’s word. Since God’s word is medicine, we must take it like we would a prescription. I suggest three times a day, like you would your food. Remember, healing is the children’s bread. Consider this your “dose” for today. Remember, read, and meditate three times a day the following:

Rx: Psalm 138:7a ~ Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life.

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15

TUESDAY
And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them.”
Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
Genesis 6:13-22

In one conversation, God maps out Noah’s whole life. Noah had found favor in God’s eyes, and God singled him out for this particular blessing. Has God singled you out for a blessing? You must have done something to please Him. What do you think it is? Has there been something in your life that you have refused to do that everybody else was doing? Why did you refuse to do it? Perhaps you knew it would be displeasing to God. You stood your ground and allowed God to savor the aroma of the sacrifice you made for Him. This is what Noah did. The bible said he worshipped God. He built an altar to God. This means he worshipped God on a regular basis. So God rewarded Noah by giving him plans and specific instructions to spare his life and the lives of his family members.

Do you worship and serve God continually? Then get ready to be singled out for a blessing, my friend. What He did for Noah, He will do for you. He is no respecter of persons.

WEDNESDAY

God tells Noah of His plan to destroy the earth with a great flood. Everybody will die except Noah and his family. Can you imagine the magnitude of this statement? God is going to kill everybody except you and your loved ones. How does Noah react to this news? Does he dare believe that a holy and just God would single him out to be spared?

Certainly, there must be many others who qualify. Is it possible that out of all the people on the earth you or I might be the only ones to qualify for specific blessings? How about the small minority of persons with cancer who survive more than ten years cancer-free? What about the person who miraculously has a limb restored? What about the person who is healed of AIDS?

God looks for Noah’s brand of faith all the time, and uses it to single many persons out for their peculiar blessing. The good news is we all have access to that kind of faith. As we use it to pass judgment on unbelief, God is then able to give us the desires of our hearts. What an awesome thing to know that we have access to this kind of faith.

THURSDAY

God tells Noah that he is going to establish His covenant with Noah and his family. This is the first incidence of household salvation. Whatever blessing God gives to you is for your seed, too. Count them in. They are included in God’s salvation plan. Don’t ever count them out. As God outlines His plan for carrying out His judgment, He also exercises great mercy. In Noah’s day, it was sparing one family.

Nowadays, God sends us to preach the Gospel to every creature. This spirit of judgment and condemning the world’s unbelief is still present in the earth today. We, like Noah, must go forth and preach righteousness. Each time we do, we put another nail in the coffin of the world’s unbelief. Unbelief is already condemned.

We preach faith in Jesus Christ. This brings hope and salvation to those who are lost. We help them build an ark of salvation for themselves.

FRIDAY

God’s instructions for the gathering of the animals and food that will be saved are outlined. So Noah did all that God commanded him to do. Not part, all. He didn’t skimp on the size of the rooms in the ark, he didn’t use pitch only on one side. He didn’t go pre-fab either. He did it the old fashioned way… he obeyed God to the letter.

How often do we quit after doing only part of what God says? We know we desire to be healed and should take the medicine of the Word every day, but we skip some days. We’re only cheating ourselves. If Noah had not built the ark according to God’s specific plan, it would not have held up under the pressure of the floodwaters. This is true of God’s plan. He is building strength in us to cause us to endure the hardships brought on by the world’s unbelief.

This gives us a key to Noah’s success in God. He allowed his faith in God to move him to obey God. This is interesting. The bible says that faith without works is dead, because it is alone. Something dead cannot pass judgment on anything. What is alive and powerful passes judgment on what is dead. Living faith is one that is full of action in obedience to God. Dead faith does nothing.

Noah was chosen because he was actively involved in seeking God, worshipping him, obeying him. This is why God chose him…He knew Noah would obey him to the letter. Look at others in the bible that were singled out for a blessing: Moses, who was faithful in all his house; Abraham, who commanded his family to serve the Lord; Joshua and Caleb who wholly followed the Lord; Daniel who served His God continually, and would not worship the idol; and Jesus who learned obedience through the things He suffered and God singled him out and gave Him the name above all names.

What are you using your faith to do? Are you using it? Is it causing you to be singled out for a blessing? Are you passing judgment on the world’s unbelief with your actions? It’s never too late to start. Let God know you want to be used by Him, then follow Him wholly. Obey all of His instructions. Your day is coming. You will be singled out for a blessing.
